i have an audition. and i probably won't be here for the next twoish weeks. an audition doesn't seem like a lot, especially if it's only for high school band placements, but it's a really big deal for me.
in my high school, we have three bands. varsity being the lowest, then concert's in the middle. the best is symphony. next year, our symphony and concert band is going to go travel around the us and play. and then in my senior year, 2013-2014, the symphony band's going to australia.
in the beginning of march, people audition to see what band they will be placed into. in varsity, there are usually 15-25 flutes because everyone can get in. i'm in varsity this year. and it sucks. badly. in concert there's about ten flutes, and in symphony there's about eight. five of them are seniors and will graduate. that means five spots are open.
25 flutes in varsity band, plus all the incoming ninth grade flutes auditioning for five spots? that's about fifty people auditioning for five spots... that's a lot of competition.
and i really want to get into concert band next year. maybe even symphony. so i'm sorry, but i probably won't be here for the next twoish weeks. cause all i'll be doing is practicing.
thank you, music, for taking over my life.
